Frequently asked questions
What kinds of dashboards are there?
Explore dashboards, built from saved Explore charts on your governed metrics, and external dashboards, which are reports from other tools embedded in the platform.
Can I embed my Looker Studio reports?
Yes. An admin adds the report with a title and an https embed link. In Looker Studio, use File, then Embed report, and enable embedding. Anyone with project access can open it, so check that it is fine to share that widely.
Can I control who sees what?
People see the dashboards their role allows. Viewers open dashboards and saved charts, editors build them and admins manage everything.
Can I change how embedded dashboards look?
Embedded dashboards keep their own appearance and sign-in rules. The platform cannot change their theme or track what users do inside them.
Do dashboards keep costs under control?
Yes. The project query-size limit that applies in Explore also applies to saved charts, and building dashboards on aggregated models keeps queries small.
How do I organise many dashboards?
Group them in spaces and sort the list by last opened, recently created or A to Z. The platform remembers your choice.
