Change data capture (CDC)
Change data capture tracks inserts, updates and deletes in a source database and replicates only those changes.
Written by Reflective Data experts · updated Oct 5, 2026
Instead of copying whole tables again and again, CDC reads the database log and streams just what changed. It keeps a warehouse nearly in sync with the source with much lower load.
It is the preferred approach for replicating large operational databases.
