Data observability
Data observability is monitoring the health of data and pipelines, so problems are found before users notice.
Written by Reflective Data experts · updated Oct 5, 2026
It checks freshness, volume, schema changes and distribution of values, and alerts the team when something drifts. The goal is to find broken data before it appears in a board report.
It complements testing: tests check known rules, observability spots the unexpected.
