Tracking pixel
A tracking pixel is a tiny, usually invisible image or script that records an interaction, such as an email open or an ad conversion.

When the browser loads the pixel it sends a request to the vendor, which logs the visit. Ad platforms use pixels to measure conversions and to build audiences.
Because pixels run in the browser, they are affected by ad blockers and consent choices, which is a reason many teams add server-side delivery.
