Amazon S3

Amazon S3 is AWS object storage, widely used as the foundation of data lakes.

Written by Reflective Data experts · updated Oct 5, 2026

It stores any type of file cheaply and durably. Data pipelines often land raw data in S3, and query engines read from it directly.

Good organisation, partitioning and access control keep a lake usable.
